In a strategic move to meet the evolving demands of the competitive double-cab bakkie market, JAC Motors has unveiled the latest addition to its T-Series lineup: the T8 2.0L CTi 4x2 Lux derivative, priced at R399 900.
Karl-Heinz Göbel, the chief executive officer of JAC Motors South Africa, underscores the significance of this expansion, noting: "As the market embraces lifestyle-oriented double-cabs and new brands emerge, bakkie buyers now have an array of additional options."
Göbel points out that market research highlights the preference among prospective double-cab buyers for established local brands boasting extensive dealer networks and competitive pricing.

Since its inception in 2017 with a modest footprint of 10 dealerships and the introduction of the X200 2.8L TDI 1.5-tonne forward-cab bakkie, JAC Motors South Africa has significantly broadened its product portfolio. This expansion includes the incorporation of the T-Series double-cabs and N-Truck range, alongside a notable increase in its dealership network, which now spans some 70 outlets across Southern Africa.
The evolution of the T-Series has been marked by strategic enhancements and adaptations to meet market demands. In 2019, the T8 lineup saw the introduction of the T8 1.9L TDI, offering a more versatile alternative to the T6 double-cab workhorse range. In 2021, the T8 underwent upgrades, including a 2,0-litre turbo-diesel engine and enhanced features.
Building upon this momentum, the T8 received a comprehensive facelift and feature enhancements in 2023, coinciding with the launch of the all-new luxurious T9 model. This initiative culminated in the introduction of the T8 2.0L CTi Super Lux variant, tailored specifically for the discerning local market.
"As part of our T8 repositioning strategy, our aim was to offer a derivative priced below R400 000, ensuring exceptional value for buyers," says Göbel.
