The use of electric vehicles in South Africa’s commercial environment is gaining traction particularly in the realm of inner-city deliveries and other short-haul operations and Enviro Automotive, an importer and distributor of battery electric vehicles (BEVs), is set to broaden its influence in the South African market
The company, the official importer of the DFSK, Dayun and SRM EV ranges, has entered into a new distribution partnership with WilGin Holdings. WilGin, the distributor of DFSK internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and JMC (Jiangling Motors Corporation Limited) products and parts, will now extend its offerings to include Enviro Automotive’s three EV brands.
Under this agreement, Enviro Automotive’s vehicles will be available through WilGin’s 18 nationwide dealerships, which will also provide full after-sales service support.

Since the introduction of DFSK’s (Dongfeng Sokon Automobile) EC35 EV panel van and EC31 EV 1-tonne forward-cab bakkie to the local market in 2022, these models have garnered significant attention.
To enhance customer satisfaction, Enviro Automotive has launched auto-electrical training initiatives aimed at equipping technicians with the skills necessary to diagnose and repair the latest generation of EVs. As the adoption of EVs continues to grow, this specialised training will become increasingly important, ensuring technicians are prepared to meet the demands of a rapidly changing automotive landscape.
In addition to these initiatives, Enviro Automotive has partnered with Bosch Service Stations to deliver targeted training for technicians on BEVs. Following successful sessions in Cape Town and Mbombela, this training programme will be rolled out nationwide, ensuring technicians across the country are capable of servicing the full range of Enviro Automotive’s vehicles as the company’s presence expands.

"We’re thrilled about our expanding distribution and service agreements within the local market. These partnerships are crucial to our mission of helping organisations and consumers transition to sustainable, green energy solutions that not only reduce their carbon footprint but also offer significant cost savings," says Gawie Brink, technical director of Enviro Automotive.
Looking ahead, Enviro Automotive has announced the forthcoming launch of the DFSK EC75 EV panel van, which is expected to arrive in the last quarter of 2024. This new model, featuring enhanced specifications compared to the EC35 EV, is powered by a single synchronous electric motor that delivers 70 kW and 230 Nm of torque. Its 50,38 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery offers a range of 300 kilometres, providing a robust option for businesses looking to transition to electric transport.
"As more operators recognise the substantial benefits that EVs bring to their operations, having the right vehicle for the job will become increasingly critical,” says Brink. "The upcoming launches of the DFSK EC75 EV panel van, the Dayun Yuehu S5 Mini SUV, and the SRM T3 EV 1.6-tonne workhorse will further solidify Enviro Automotive’s place in the South African BEV market."
