Audi South Africa has expanded its local SUV line-up with the introduction of the new Q5 family, which includes the third-generation Q5 SUV, the second-generation Q5 Sportback and the performance-oriented SQ5 variants in both body styles. The range, built on Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion, marks a significant step in the brand’s local product rollout, bringing updated petrol and diesel powertrains to one of its most important nameplates.

All models are offered exclusively in S line specification as standard, giving the SUV and Sportback a distinctly sporting character from the outset. This includes 20-inch alloy wheels as standard, with a choice of 10 exterior paint finishes, including three new metallic options: Sakhir Gold, Grenadine Red and Tambora.

For customers seeking greater individuality, Audi exclusive provides further personalisation, while the optional Carbon Style package adds carbon mirror housings, door trim strips and a carbon roof spoiler on the SUV.

The Q5 Sportback, with its coupé-inspired roofline, delivers a more expressive silhouette without compromising everyday versatility. A range of Audi Sport wheel designs, available in 20 and 21-inch sizes, offers additional scope for customisation, with the SQ5 receiving exclusive 20-inch alloys and the SQ5 Black distinguished by 21-inch units.

Under the bonnet, the Audi Q5 2.0 TFSI produces 200 kW and reaches 100 km/h in 5,7 seconds, while the 2.0 TDI offers 150 kW and 400 Nm of torque for longer-distance efficiency. Leading the range, the SQ5’s 3,0-litre V6 TFSI engine delivers 270 kW and 550 Nm, with a 0-100 km/h time of 4,5 seconds.

All variants are paired with a seven-speed S tronic gearbox and quattro all-wheel drive, with the Q5 models featuring quattro ultra and the SQ5 receiving full quattro with S sport suspension. Optional adaptive air suspension for the Q5 and Adaptive S air suspension for the SQ5 allow drivers to tailor ride height and damping through Audi drive select, enhancing comfort and agility across various conditions.

Inside, the cabin introduces Audi’s Digital Stage interface, comprising an 11,9-inch virtual cockpit and a 14,5-inch curved MMI touch display that creates a clean, driver-focused layout. An optional 10,9-inch passenger screen uses Active Privacy Mode to allow front-seat occupants to access navigation and entertainment functions without distracting the driver.

Premium materials, sculpted surfaces, and integrated ambient lighting contribute to a refined environment, while standard features include electrically adjustable sport seats, three-zone deluxe climate control, wireless smartphone charging and Audi connect services. The SQ5 adds S sport seats with embossed emblems, a flat-top and flat-bottom steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, and a Dynamic Interaction Light as part of the Ambient Lighting Package Pro.

Standard driver assistance systems include Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Emergency Brake Assist, Front Cross Traffic Assist, Park Assist Plus, Surround View Cameras, Side Assist, Exit Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Assist and Audi Pre Sense.

Two optional technology packages simplify the ordering process: Tech Plus introduces Matrix LED headlights and Adaptive Cruise Assist Plus with assisted lane change, while Tech Pro adds Digital OLED rear lights, Front and Rear Emergency Brake Assist, a 3D surround camera system and Remote Park Assist via the myAudi app. Customers can further enhance the digital experience with the MMI passenger display, a factory-installed dashcam and additional connected services.

Practicality remains central to the Q5’s appeal, with a wheelbase of 2 820 mm contributing to a spacious interior. Luggage capacity measures up to 520 litres in the SUV and 515 litres in the Sportback, and flexible rear seating adds versatility for family life, business travel, or weekend getaways.

Every model is sold with Audi South Africa's 5-year/100,000 km Audi Freeway Plan as standard and customers can also benefit from Audi Assured Guaranteed Future Value (GFV) through Audi Financial Services, providing greater flexibility and confidence at the end of their finance agreement.
