The ante has been upped in the luxury SUV sandpit with the introduction of the Exceed derivative in the Mitsubishi Outlander range that comes to market at R809 995 but has additional tech spec added as standard.
The new top-of-the-range gains a smartphone wireless charger, a BOSE Premium sound system with 10 speakers, multi around view monitor, door mirrors with position memory and reverse auto tilt and a pull-up sunshade.

The new Mitsubishi Outlander, was launched last year and the design, inspired by the Japanese product concept of I-Fu-Do-Do, is characterised by substantial horizontal proportions, which along with jet tail fin pillars, while Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield front design creates a presence that is accentuated by LED front fog lamps, LED sequential turn signals and daytime running lights as well as a front skid plate, rear spoiler, and LED high-mounted brake light.
All derivatives are powered by the same 2,5-litre dual VVT DOHC engine that utilises direct injection to produce 135 kW at 6 000 r/min and 245 Nm at 3 600 r/min. This engine is paired with a simulated eight-speed CVT transmission and the power delivery can be tailored via a variety of drive modes including Eco, Normal, Tarmac, Gravel, Snow, and Mud.
Off-road pedigree is maintained thanks to 210 mm of ground clearance and Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) that uses intuitive sensors to maximise vehicle control, distributing power to all four wheels.

Central to the interior is a 12,3-inch Digital Driver Display, this is complimented by either an eight-inch Smartphone link display or a nine-inch Smartphone-Link display with navigation, depending on the model chosen. All derivatives feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring capability.
All derivatives are fitted with seven crash bags, anti-lock braking, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Emergency Stop signal system, Hill Start Assist, and Hill Descent Control as well as Active Stability and Traction Control.
