Range Rover has added some luxury modifications to the Velar to move it even more upmarket – and certainly quieter with the addition of active Road Noise Cancellation technology.

The system works like a pair of high-end noise-cancelling headphones, constantly monitoring vibrations from the road surface and calculating the opposite phase sound wave needed to mask the noise heard by occupants.

It features accelerometers located in each wheel arch to detect vibrations that lead to road noise transmission and then calculates an audio signal to replay over the speakers, to reduce the decibel level inside the cabin.

The Velar is available with the latest Cabin Air Purification Plus system that uses a PM2.5 Enhanced Filtration set-up to detect the concentration of fine particulates, which can be harmful in large quantities. To activate the system, the driver simply presses the Purify button on the Air Quality page within Pivi Pro, and the feature automatically senses, displays and reduces the PM2.5 level inside the vehicle.

The system also features Cabin Air Ionisation that removes potentially harmful allergens, viruses, airborne bacteria and associated odours.

Occupants now get new, more supportive multi-adjustable seat designs and Dynamic SE models feature 14-way front seats with driver memory, while Dynamic HSE models are fitted with 20-way front seats with driver memory, plus a power reclining function for the rear seats.

The Range Rover Velar Autobiography features heated and cooled 20-way massage front seats with driver memory and rear power recline.

Still, it is a go-anywhere vehicle and ride comfort and refinement is provided by a suite of advanced chassis and suspension systems. Optional Electronic Air Suspension provides luxurious ride comfort in all conditions with a range of additional features designed to make life easier while improving off-road capability with a maximum ground clearance of 251 mm.

The Electronic Air Suspension system is self-levelling, maintaining the optimum ride height when towing or carrying heavy loads for improved comfort and composure. It also assists when hitching a trailer, or when loading or unloading from the boot, with controls inside the luggage compartment able to raise or lower the suspension by 50 mm.
