With the formal launch of the Jetour SUV brand imminent, the company’s newly appointed Vice President, Nic Campbell, is confident the brand is set to redefine luxury and customer satisfaction in the local industry.

Jetour is a stand-alone brand that falls within the Chery Holdings group of companies but competes and manufactures completely independently and thus has no connection with Chery locally.

Campbell, who brings over 14 years of experience in the automotive sector, believes Jetour can strike a balance that appeals to local customers.

Having dealt with international OEMs, Campbell has developed a keen understanding of the non-negotiable standards required by global brands, which he plans to adapt to the unique South African market. However, his primary focus is clear: customer satisfaction.

"The most important thing is that when a customer walks into a dealership after 10 years and a million kilometres, they are just as satisfied as they were the day they first drove their car home," he says.

Jetour’s 10-year, 1-million kilometre warranty is a key selling point, offering South African customers peace of mind and confidence in the reliability of the brand. Launched in China in 2018, Jetour has quickly garnered positive feedback across various international markets, including the Middle East, Central and South America, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.

In 2023, the Jetour XC70 PLUS was voted as Angola’s most popular car.

Jetour will launch locally with the 7-seater X70PLUS and the 5-seater DASHING, and Campbell emphasises the importance of offering ‘affordable luxury’ while ensuring quality aftersales service and the availability of parts, which are already being stocked at Jetour’s Kyalami headquarters.

Jetour’s planning has been thorough, with the company investing R100-million in spare parts and securing 40 dealerships nationwide. Campbell highlights that parts won’t be outsourced but kept on-site to ensure swift resolutions to any issues.

"If there’s a problem, we’ll know about it immediately," he says. "South African customers expect and deserve the best, and our goal is to provide a mobility solution for the entire family, creating a lasting relationship with the brand."
