Honda Motor Southern Africa has introduced the CB1000GT to its local range, offering riders a touring motorcycle that combines long-distance comfort with performance capability. Priced at R315 000 including VAT, the new model comes equipped with panniers as standard and draws on engineering from the CBR1000RR Fireblade.
Following the introduction of the CB1000 Hornet, which brought four-cylinder Fireblade power to a compact naked platform, Honda has now developed a touring-focused variant. The CB1000GT expands the company's local offering with what the manufacturer describes as a high-performance tourer designed for longer journeys.
The motorcycle aims to suit African riding conditions, combining practical touring features with the dynamic performance needed for open roads and weekend getaways. Standard equipment includes Showa electronically adjustable suspension, an upgraded electronics package and comprehensive touring amenities.

The CB1000GT arrives with a full complement of touring equipment fitted from the factory. Buyers receive detachable rear panniers, cruise control, heated grips, knuckle guards, a centre stand and a quick shifter as standard items.
A five-inch optically bonded TFT screen provides the interface for Honda's RoadSync smartphone connectivity, allowing navigation, calls and music control through a Bluetooth helmet headset. The display remains visible in bright sunlight thanks to optical bonding technology.
The motorcycle features a five-position windscreen that adjusts with one hand through an 81-millimetre range, offering varying levels of wind protection depending on rider preference. Aerodynamic bodywork, developed through computational fluid dynamics, provides additional protection without compromising handling characteristics.
Power comes from a 998 cc inline four-cylinder engine derived from the Fireblade, producing 110,1 kilowatts at 11 000 r/min and 102 Nm of torque at 8 750 r/min. The engine has been tuned for smooth throttle response, with Honda engineers focusing on linear power delivery and a strong mid-range for relaxed touring.
The motorcycle weighs 229 kilograms and returns fuel consumption of 16,5 kilometres a litre, with a 21-litre tank providing a potential touring range beyond 340 kilometres.

Showa's Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment suspension comes as standard, automatically adjusting damping force based on riding conditions. The system can also adjust rear spring preload while on the move. A six-axis inertial measurement unit manages the electronics package, including cornering ABS for improved braking security.
The chassis features a steel diamond-style frame with a revised subframe that increases room for rider and pillion. Seat height is set at 825 millimetres, with the riding position designed for comfort over longer distances. Seat thickness has increased by 15 millimetres for the rider and 39,5 millimetres for the pillion.
Throttle-by-wire control offers four default riding modes - Standard, Sport, Rain and Tour - alongside a customisable User mode. Each mode adjusts engine power delivery, engine braking and Honda Selectable Torque Control settings, with the suspension also adapting to the selected mode.
Standard features include auto-cancelling indicators, an emergency stop signal function and a Honda Smart Key system. The USB-C charging socket at the bottom of the screen adds convenience for smartphone charging.

In line with Honda's environmental goals, the windscreen uses Durabio, a plant-based biomass material, while the seat base plates employ pre-consumer recycled polypropylene. All lighting uses long-life LED technology.
The 2026 Honda CB1000GT will be available in three colour options: Grand Prix Red with extended Graphite Black livery, Pearl Deep Mud Gray, and Graphite Black.
The motorcycle comes with a two-year warranty with unlimited kilometre coverage. Honda also includes free-rider training for all experience levels with every new motorcycle sold.
