Audi South Africa has introduced the RS e-tron GT performance, a model that now stands as the most powerful production vehicle ever to emerge from the brand’s stable – and priciest at just more than four bar.

The vehicle generates a system output of 680 kW, establishing a new performance reference for the brand while adhering to the Gran Turismo principle of blending high-performance capability with notable comfort.

The electric powertrain produces a maximum output of 550 kW, which increases to 680 kW when Launch Control is engaged. This allows the sedan to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 2,9 seconds, or 2,5 seconds with Launch Control, before reaching an electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h.

Power distribution is managed through the quattro drivetrain, with electrical torque outputs of 409 Nm at the front axle and 590 Nm at the rear. A gross battery capacity of 105 kWh, with 97 kWh net, supports both dynamic driving and longer touring distances, with an electric range of between 533 and 592 kilometres.

An advanced thermal management system regulates the battery, electric motors and cabin climate to ensure consistent performance across various driving scenarios, whether accelerating from a standstill, navigating mountain roads or covering long distances at speed.

The quattro all-wheel-drive system has been a cornerstone of Audi’s driving dynamics for more than four decades. In the RS e-tron GT performance, this system is combined with a new generation of chassis technologies to deliver precision and stability.

Adaptive air suspension with an electronically controlled two-chamber, two-valve system and continuously variable damping is fitted as standard. Through Audi drive select, drivers can adjust ride height and suspension characteristics to suit different conditions, from comfort to more dynamic driving. At higher speeds, the system lowers the vehicle to reduce aerodynamic drag, improving efficiency and stability.

Exclusive to this model, RS Performance mode coordinates the powertrain, suspension, torque distribution, aerodynamics and thermal management to unlock the vehicle’s dynamic potential on demanding roads. The Push-to-Pass function provides an additional 70 kW of power for up to 10 seconds at the touch of a button, offering a temporary surge for overtaking or cornering.

The design of the RS e-tron GT performance is distinctly Audi Sport, with each surface and aerodynamic element balancing visual presence with functional performance. South African customers can choose from nine exterior paint finishes, including new options such as Arkona White, Bedford Green Metallic, Progressive Red Metallic and Nimbus Grey Pearl.

The standard exterior features a body-coloured Singleframe grille, front side air ducts and mirror housings, with black window trims and Polar White Audi rings.
