Volkswagen's best-selling model has been refreshed through one of its variants. The Polo Vivo in its current form has been on sale in South Africa since 2018, and nearly 120 000 units have found homes locally during that time. The brand has recently added some flavour to the Polo Vivo GT with a new look through some minor updates.

Exterior

In the refreshed Polo Vivo GT you'll notice the existing 17-inch wheels with a 15mm lower suspension, which have always distinguished this model. Along with this are the Lights Vision Package and a single chrome exhaust pipe at the rear. What's new is the silver mirror caps, a GT decal at the rear, inserts on the wheels and dash, and GT decals on the front doors. It's available in five different paint schemes with Wild Cherry and Red metallic being the two new colours.

Cabin upgrades

Volkswagen had to spruce the Polo Vivo GT's interior too when they were working on the upgrades. They've replaced the blue cloth insert and stitching in the old car's seats with red, while adding grey stitching to the gear lever and handbrake to match the grey exterior accents. You'll also get floor mats with GT embroiled onto them. Existing items unique to the GT variant are the front sport seats, aluminium-treated pedals and a black spoiler on the taillight.

VW Polo GT engine stats

Making use of VW's 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, the Polo Vivo GT produces 81 kW and 200Nm through its front wheels. Volkswagen claims an average fuel consumption of 4.6 litres per 100km from this motor. And if you're wondering what it will cost, you can expect to pay an asking price of R332 800 for the updated VW Polo Vivo GT.
