Only ten of these Scorpione models were imported to South Africa. So they have true collector’s value. And like any genuine Abarth, they remain very rewarding driver’s cars.

Powered by the amazingly engineered Fiat 1.4-litre MultiAir engine, Punto Scorpione boosts 132kW and 270Nm. Those numbers aren’t amazing in the current hot hatch market, but they were plenty when the Scorpione launched.

With a close-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox, throttle response is excellent and the overall driving experience is deeply engaging. Lowered suspension and Koni dampers reduce body roll and enhance traction, giving the Scorpione that indisputable Abarth driver appeal.

If you can find one of these and are willing to deal with the limited parts and service supply chain, it is a lot more interesting than any German or Japanese compact hot hatch.
